Description:
The "Liberty" type vessel SIDERIS is seen discharging phosphate rock at West Wharf 4 berth in Royal Edward Dock, Avonmouth, on 10.10.70. She was soon sold for breaking, arriving at Barcelona 7.5.71.
Launched as GRANVILLE SUART in Los Angeles, she was delivered in 1943 to the British Government as SAMARITAN by the California Shipbuilding Corporation
After War service she was sold to Cunard Line in 1947 and renamed VANDALIA, being sold to the "London Greek" shipowner MARGARONIS in 1954
MARGARONIS was also the owner of vessel ZAK (ex TREBARTHA), a photograph of which can be seen on this website when she was laid up in the River Blackwater in October 1982)
