Built 1937 by Deschimag - Deutsche Schiff-und Maschinenbau AG, Bremen, Germany
Propulsion: 2 x six-cylinder, two-stroke MAN diesels (520 mm bore x 700 mm stroke) geared to a single screw shaft. Total output: 3,600 bhp. Speed: 13 knots.
Originally built as MOLDA for Mowinckels Rederi, Norway.
In 1968 she was deliberately grounded in the Messier Channel, southern Chile as part of an insurance fraud. It was also claimed that the ship’s cargo of bagged sugar dissolved due to water ingress.
