I've just had a look at Maritime Matters' "Future Ships"-list... none on order at a Japanese shipyard.

The majority of orders is with the Big Three, Fincantieri, STX France and Meyer Papenburg/Turku...

Hi Jens, you are right about the trials and tribulations surrouding DIAMOND and SAPPHIRE PRINCESS. That was a nightmore for MHI too. I think at the time MHI also announced it would pull out of cruise ship construction.
MHI has made many many statements in recent years, but I think most of them involved an abandonment of cruise ship construction. However, you never know what might happen under a future new leadership at MHI....

Actually they should already have learnt the lesson 13 years ago. If I remember correctly AIDAprima and AIDAperla have not been Mitsubishi's first western style cruise ships. The construction of Diamond Princess was no highlight either...

I wonder if Mitsubishi will (again) abandon the construction of cruise ships as they did after the completion of the two Princess-ships.
