Rathdown, I would be interested to see the other photo of it before it entered dry dock.

The Derricks were inserted in the drydock at Dublin , I have another photo of her waiting to enter the dock but without the derricks. Ive tryed to upload the photo but its not letting me post it .

Thanks David, your comment much more credible than the one I offered. I think I let my imagination run wild on this one.... :-)

There may be a misunderstanding - I do not think that the derricks were inserted at sea, but more likely in the drydock in Dublin, after this photo was taken, to enable her to to be towed (though stern-first) to Glasgow.

Re Denis comment.....After several looks at Paul Strathdee's upload of some 12 years ago, I wondered myself how they managed to position derricks in that fashion...?
I don't know. but if I were to guess, short of having outside assistance, the crew very creative/innovative and perhaps winched the derricks into position using anchor windlass (horizontal winches) within focsle. Such a sizeable gash appears to have breached upper portion forward hold bulkhead or the focsle gear/supply shed through which they could have lowered derricks...???
(Another cursory check on line did not turn up anything further plausible other than what was mentioned earlier).

@andrecas How exactly those 2 derricks were put under there supporting the hanging bow?

Apparently en route to Glasgow when she had a run in with a tanker. The bow was shored up with 2 of her derricks (see photo link below), then towed to Glasgow to complete discharge. Ship eventually abandoned and laid up for more than a year before being sold to Clyde Port Authority for scrap.
