Description:

The former Weaver Navigation tug, France Hayhurst at the Albert Dock, Liverpool. 23 February 2010. She was built at Northwich in 1938 and named after the then Chairman of the Weaver Navigation Trust, Col. William France-Hayhurst. After being sold by Weaver Navigation she saw service with the Manchester Ship Canal Company and British Waterways. She had a chequered later career including an arson attack and sinking before being bought in 2005 on an internet auction site by her present owner, a local drama teacher, who has restored her as a houseboat. (Acknowledgements to Barry Graham and the Liverpool Daily Post for this information.)
