Description:

Ellerman Hall Line's 1949 Swan Hunter, Wallsend, built CITY OF BROOKLYN is seen passing Gravesend, outbound from London, on Friday 28th July 1967 during a voyage from Manila to London, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Hull and Grangemouth.

Following discharge she arrived at Leith on 10th August 1967 where she was sold to N. and J. Vlassopulos Ltd of London and renamed LEFKADIOS as which she soon made her way to Constantza on the Black Sea, subsequently passing Istanbul westbound on 10th September for Port Sudan.

LEFKADIOS suffered an explosion and fire while 600nm south of Colombo on 25th September 1970, and subsequently sank, while on voyage from Bordeaux to Shanghai with a cargo of bagged fertilizer.
