WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
It’s been a couple of years since I was last in St. George's, Grenada but the ANINA - IMO 702383, is still there and appears laid up and abandoned. As of April 4, 2017, the ship seems much the same except for paint further faded and peeling in the sun, and it may have taken on a little more water. At night, the ANINA stands out as a black silhouette with no running lights. There does not appear to be any one on board although ropes along the sides suggest there have been occasional visitors. While the ship has become a fixture in the harbor, it is not anchored directly in the shipping lanes for commercial and cruise traffic.
April 23, 2018 Update on the ANINA
For several years, the ANINA was anchored non-operational in St. George’s Harbor, slowly deteriorating in the elements. Unable to maintain the ship, the owner eventually volunteered the ship to the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA).
On the morning of March 21st, 2018, the ANINA was sunk by the GTA near the Purple Rain Reef as wreck dive site. The ANINA sank undamaged and is resting on her starboard side in 30m / 100ft of water.
