Those old Indexes sure do come in handy at times like this :)

of course I have checked out the other vessels:
FU YANG SHAN left Cotonou 15.04.98 for ?? but left Leixoes 16.05.98 for Bilbao where she arrived 18.05.98. So I rule out that it is this ship.
FU WEN SHAN left Agigea 22.03.98 and passed Singapore 25.04.98 for Jinzhou
FU KANG SHAN arrived Coatzacoalcos 04.05.98 from Hampton Roads

Many thanks for your quick responses. May I just ask Joerg, can you confirm from your Lloyds Index that the Fu Kang Shan / Fu Yang Shan and Fu Wen Shan were not also in the East Med area at that time ? Shipping is full of co-incidences like that and I would just like to be able to rule them out conclusively. I'm pretty sure the photo was on the 03.05 or 04.05.1998 but I have always found the "Pd Istanbul" dates in Lloyds to be +/- a day or 2 !
Thanks again guys, Neil (and the actual photographer G. Frith).

this is FU XIN SHAN (IMO 8601379). She left Venice 30.04.1998 and passed Istanbul 05.05.1998 eastbound for Nikolayev (according to Lloyd's Shipping Index 18.05.1998).
Best regards
Joerg
