Hi Jens,
I was on one of the escorting vessels from the Brunsbüttel Elbe port where PEKING was towed out of dock vessel and towed to the shipyard at Wewelsfleth. She indeed arrived well at the shipyard in Wewelsfleth as this picture showes. It cannot have been taken at the location Brunsbüttel. There is no land in the foreground, just the water of river Elbe.

I Agree with Bob Scott its great to see her back where she belongs.Like Bob I remember her as a Shaftsbury Home. Where she supported many displaced young boys and orphans giving a great service and good start to the cadets.

Good to see the old F Laiesz "Flying P-Liner" back in Germany along with her sister PASSAT (at Travemünde). I often admired her as I supped a few beers at Upnor, on the River Medway, near where I live, when she was the static training ship ARETHUSA. However, I could never see her relevance to New York, where she went thereafter.

Ah, nice to see that she arrived safely at Wewelsfleth. Thanks for this fine photo Eckhard.

Now the work can begin. Can't wait to see her when restoration is finished and she looks like 1927 again :-)

Yes. But I think that Eckhard might say that the one in New York was the famous PEKING of Hamburg, now returned to the home of her builder and original owner.
