Description:

Well, one goes to the USA to see cutting edge technology of pretty much everything...save for merchant shipping, where they are firmly in the stone age, courtesy of the Jones Act.

Built in 1980, and not showing any intentions to stop and take a rest, here's this old girl arriving at Honolulu at dusk.

Thanks for your comments, Roy and Jadran!

Jadran, that's very interesting historic information - but who would think that the vessel converted back in "cold war" times would still be sailing now... :)

Cheers

Vlad

Hi MO Roy and Vlad,, EDWARD RUTLEDGE (today having the name Horizon Reliance) was converted from LASH (specialized 'barge' carrier) to pure containership at shipyard Viktor Lenac, Rijeka (if I still remember well, I think it was 2nd half 1980s); cheers to both of you /jadran

Thanks Vlad for this nice picture of an old Lash-carrier converted into a box-ship.
I saw her or her sister almost 20 years ago in Kaohsiung sadly without a proper camera in those days.
Cheers,
Roy
