The vessel is "Johan Hjort" built in 1958 by Mjellem & Karlsen, Bergen, for the Norwegian Ocean Research Institut in Bergen. The vessel was rebuilded in 1975.
Main part. 52,3 m long.Draft 5,3 m. Main eng. MAN 1300 BHP.
The vessel was sold in 1983, and renamed "Skandi Ocean. In 1996 the vessel was bought by Sea Shepperds, and sailed under different names. Last known name is "Farley Mowat" and last time observed in 2007 i Australia.
