Not sure about the current regulations Matty - **in theory**, once you had passed your Second Mate's Foreign Going certificate, you could watchkeep on any size of ship. Obviously there would be close observation & further training if ships size (or differing type) were new to the imaginery 2/0. Others, more enlightened than me, may advise differently.

Is it like flying? For example, pilots need to do a specific number of hours in a simulator before they take control of the real thing (i.e. 727 conversion to a 747). Captaining a small vessel like this,2700 tons, but then moving up to a 30,000 ton cargo vessel. I realise the basics of seamanship are there but it's the size which could be quite intimidating.
