ARUANA had sailed from Chepstow - River Severn (Monmouthshire) on 30th June 1970 bound for Pasajes in Northern Spain

She was built for the Great Lakes service with four hatches, but after the St.Lawrence Seaway was modernised in the mid to late 'fifties she was lengthened, the section added being the hatch before the bridge and the kingpost, hence the slightly unusual configuration.

Only 1789 GT and yet 5 hatches.Is that a bit unusual?
