He llo friends.I don,t know exactly why the roofs are so steeply.And Jadran: We don,t have here much snow,more rain and storm in the winter.Last winter we had only 3 or 4 days snow.In the winter here is more rain and storm.Cheers Volker

Hello Jadran, many thanks for your nice comment. I was really impressed by the very *green* scenery along Kiel Canal fitting very well into the beautiful landscape of this part of Germany. Unfortunately I am not prepared to answer your question concerning the roof angles, so I think we'll have to wait for Volker in this case....

Are the roofs of the houses so steeply angled because of *heavy* snow in the winter there? our very well known site member Volker might have the most appropriate answer in this case!!
