Hi Clive, after some investigating, I did not discover anything of much worth.
QUOTE:
EUGENIO C called only once at Cape Town arriving on Sunday January 22, 1967 and departed the following evening.
Unfortunately, I did not photograph her on her call at Cape Town.

Thanks Clive for taking the time to research further. I was too young then so I would not have known. I will investigate with our local shipping enthusiast/journalist here next week and let you know. Kind regards, Brett.

Brett, A bit of research has produced the following information;
On 31 August 1966 Eugenio C departed Genoa on her maiden voyage to South America and was employed on that route until 9 January 1967 when she departed Genoa on her first major cruise, which was a 34 night voyage around Africa calling at 15 ports.
It would be surprising if that was the only time that she made calls at ports in South Africa.

Brett, That's remarkable. She was a very high-profile liner during the 1960s and 1970s. Even during the 1980s when she was more of a cruise ship she was still one of the best. I'm surprised that she never made a South Africa call during one of her world cruises.

Thanks Clive, I knew that you would have the full story ! We never got to see her neither heard anything about her down here in SA. Thanks again, Brett.
