Ship attacked by pirates, crew members taken as hostage.
The "FWN Rapide" was attacked by pirates in the Bight of Bonny in the morning of Apr 21, 2018 prior to entering the port of Port Harcourt. A number of crew members have been taken from the vessel. Forest Wave have had temporary contact with the remaining crew on board and was currently in the process of establishing further contact with the ship in order to verify the information. Meanwhile the company was making arrangement to move the "FWN Rapide" to a safe position. Forest Wave stressed that the safety of the crew was absolute priority. The company’s emergency response team has been activated and was monitoring the situation closely. Forest Wave was in close contact with the authorities and taking professional advice in order to secure the earliest release of those that were being held. Together with the local representatives in the countries of origin of the crew they were keeping the families of the "FWN Rapide" crew informed about the situation. Forest Wave will not be providing any further information in order not to jeopardise the safety of those involved. The ship was en route from Takoradi to Onne at the time of the attack.(source: Vesseltracker.com)
