Same as many others, I never met Jadran. I always looked forward to his pictures. And the Big White Buoy.

Rest in peace. I will miss you.

Such a sad loss, We have never met though we exchanged emails quite regularly, a while ago I was planning to take an Adriatic cruise , and when I told him about it he was enthusiastic ,planning to meet me when the ship docks, but alas it was not to be as I had to cancel because of family health trouble. He was very much attached to his mother whom he loved so much.So now the Rijeka balcony on the Adriatic has closed forever.
Rest in Peace dear friend, much beloved by all, we will all miss you and your photos and comments.
R.I.P, your friend across the Med as you used to address me.

With much regret I learn of the passing away of a great friend like Jadran, despite not having met personally, but with whom I had a friendly exchange of mails and a possible meeting in Croatia on a possible trip to France and England this year.

RIP Jadran.

Sadly, we now know that our dear friend Jadran suffered a stroke last November, from which he did not recover, and he passed away in June, shortly after our last report. May he rest in eternal peace.

We have one member who makes occasional visits to Rijeka and will, I am sure, follow up next time. I reported his last info below in June. If any other Croatian-speaking members are in the area and can help, please email me at [email protected]

"Dum spira ,spero" (if I got this Latin saying spelt right)which means " while we breath ,we hope." And we all are still hoping that Jadran will once again grace this site with his comments ,and photos, which we all are yearning to see and comment on. Hang on there dear friend. Let destiny play its role.
regards to all his friends and family .

My dear friend Jadran, hope that you in the near future will be able to see and read these wishes from your friends from all over the world.
Shipspotting maybe is our hobby, but it has been elevated to a brotherhood , a bond of friendship amongst contributers to this site .Many of us who have never met personally, yet feel that this transcends all frontiers, all colour and believe.
Thank you Jadran my friend for through your misfortune you have bonded us more strongly.
Kind regards to everyone involved.

Thanks David, at least there is still some light at the end of the tunnel, let us hope for more positive answers. I know that Jadran had some serious health problems as he said so to me in his emails, let us hope he overcomes them .
Thanks for all for the sincere concern towards our friend Jadran.

The latest received via the kind efforts of a few members and others is that neighbours said that he was taken seriously ill, but that they did not know (or were not saying) more. No reply from approaches to Victor Lenac so far.

Hi friends, re our friend Jadran, I like to be optimistic, but after 4 months tomorrow from his last posting, I must be realistic and fear the worst. I hope that I am mistaken. Have our Croatian friends investigated by contacting the Rijeka hospitals or his ex employers at the dockyard? Maybe they could throw more light on the situation.
Always hoping for the best.
regards and thanks to all those who are helping in this quest.

Dear Jadran thank you very much for your kind reply, effectively within my project is to visit Vis jointly with Fabiola my wife, and also to visit Rijeka and if posible Split, I think to travel via ferry from Ancona to Dubrovnik and to continue to Vis.

By the way I always watch your photos, which are all of a top quality , I stop to post my photos in this website from time to time because I have not agree with the reasons given by the person in charge for so doing, sometimes the reasons are correct, but in several occasions the reasons stated to delete some of my photos are ridiculous to say it in a polite words, without taking into consideration that some of these persons realized of this fact after a couple of weeks or much time.

Excellent photos Jadran, the view is merely beautiful, I hope to travel to the Island of Vis the next year 2018, to visit my relatives still alive and to know about my ancestors.

Please excuse my rusted Croatian language but I do not have with whom practice it.

Regards

Tomislav

Hello Volker my dear "old" friend,, it's my pleasure to answer to your question,, the "red" ship (in the top left corner of this pic) is the Jj Sietas built (1983) general cargo ship MERO STAR (IMO 8321682), ex Dudu Express ( I have 6 photos on the site of Dudu Express - please take a look!! hehe).
On this photograph MERO STAR is seen on Rijeka anchorage awaiting free berth at the port of Bakar.
