It's up to the national Government telecoms agency. Most atates do not recycle c/s precisely because it can cause confusion and misinformation

Is that allowed ? The process of recycling call-signs ?

Cannot throw any light on the editing, but agree that the previous name certainly looks like ASIA. Phil's suggestion is only one so far found that matches. Unless something else emerges, I think it reasonable to attribute this to IMO 8151489.

By the way, it seems that the St Kitte-Nevis registration of ASIA was closed ini 7/2015 and no new flagging has been declared. (Some website claim that ASIA had recorded movements since then, but I am doubtful - St Kitts Nevis is one of those flag administrations that I believe recycles call-signs and, maybe MMSI numbers, so more recent refeerences probably belong to quite different vessels.)

I also assume this is the former ASIA but now under a new name which I cannot read (in white letters on bow and stern) , this is Singapore Strait but more close to Batam Island (Indonesia) I assume ?, maybe she is now under Indonesian ownership ?
Condition of the ship doesn't look to good.

It was not me either.

OK, I assumed that you had done it, but no problem, I'm hoping that other members can perhaps shed more light.

Thank you Phil, but I'm not the one who changed the photo details - apparently one of the admins were a little too quick... ;-) But we'll leave it like that until some one can come up with an alternative identification... :-)

This was just a suggestion, Foggy. I would not assume that I am right!

Name appears to be OCEAN, but no trace of that name officially registered. However, painted out name appears to be ASIA, which would fit with IMO 8151489
