The case of GEROGIORGAKIS had interested me for some time. It all started many years ago when I purchased a photo of an unknown ship, seemingly been scrapped. I had uploaded it at http://www.seatheships.org.uk/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/20508/title/at-the-breakers/cat/558 and since then I researched the case with the friend of fellow researchers. When I finally managed to untangle her story, I wrote an article which was published in the Greek magazine Efoplistis (August 2017, issue 292) and a more extended version which include the endeavours of other RN monitors in the Aegean which was published in Okrety Wojenne magazine (issue 146, 6/2017).
Cheers
Aris

This one had a very interesting story.
Built at Harland & Wolff Shipyard, Belfast as the British Monitor HMS M.29. Look here for info :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M29-class_monitor
Converted in 1923-24 to a Mine Layer and renamed MEDUSA.
Since 1941 she served as a support vessel at Malta (British 10th Submarine Flotilla) with the name TALBOT. Look here :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_10th_Submarine_Flotilla_(Malta)
Renamed MEDWAY II in 1944 and in 1945 renamed MEDUSA again.
According to various sources, she was sold to Dover Industries in September 1946 to be scrapped, but she was resold to Spyros Theodoratos, Greece and converted to a cargo ship at Perama (441 gt, 54 X 9 metres) and registered on Jan 21, 1951 to Lavrion with off. no 7 with the name GEROGEORGAKIS.
Sold in 1956 to Elpida & Panagiotis Livadas.
Arrested by the French Customs on 16 November 1971 off Cavallo Island, Corsica with 1280 boxes of cigarettes (12 tons) and confiscated by the French Authorities.
Finally auctioned in 1974 and broken up at Vado Ligure, Italy
Special thanks to my good friend and great researcher Aris Bilalis for a large part of her history

Another little clue.
GEROGEORGAKIS - 442grt - built 1929 - sold for scrap 1975

Included in the list of deleted names at the back of the "Greek Shipping Directory 1978" (the only one I have)

So may well be listed in previous editions. Or pre-1975 Lloyd's Register
