A lightly tenuous link but still appropriate for the day, a Christmas Island arrival at Napier on 23.2.80 was the Glasgow registered Baron Ardrossan with phosphate loaded from that islands mines. Christmas Island was for many years a major supply point for New Zealand and Australia farms with their serious minerals to boost their production.
