Casualties | | Description: | | The Ming Fortune, collided with the Ariake Reefer: imo 7902984. The Ming Fortune was being towed to the French port of Le Havre. There inspectors can assess the full extent of damage to the crippled vessel. The 30,699-deadweight-ton vessel has a large 6- to 10-meter wide hole in its port side near the engine room while the fuel tanks also are leaking, according to a spokeswoman for Smit International, one of the salvage firms involved in the rescue. It was unclear Monday whether the leak posed a serious pollution threat. |
