Description:
Stern view of EXPORT COURIER as shown while upbound on the St.Lawrence River off Varennes on August 6, 1977.
This ship built in 1962 for American Export Lines became governement owned in 1980 and renamed COURIER. Became part of the RRF in 1985 and went into reserve at Beaumont in 2000.
She is now being stripped of useful parts before being towed to scrap.

I was fortunate enough to see one of this class
when it called at Felixstowe in 1983.
Named Builder by then, but my camera was not up to much then so the slide is not to good. I have posted a scan of it on the site
