Afaik it is not intended to gear up any weapon systems in the future. Type 125 is optimized for encountering asymetrical threats and is equipped with four High Tech RHIBs. Hence some call the F125 a "oversized police cruiser". Myself I'm not expert enough to comment that but relations of size, costs and tasks seems strange to me.

Still for a ship that is supposed to provide "presence" I wonder if this is a lack of planning on their part. With the proliferation of more countries getting coastal submarines, and the resurgence of Russia, it makes me wonder if this was the best route. I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit her with ASW systems and a more robust fighting capability. Also have heard there are technology integration problems with many of her systems and automation. Many of the same problems the US Navy is facing with the LCS program.

Thanks for comments @ MattyBoy and Steven Collingwood.
The photo was taken during acoustic measurements off Aschau near Eckernfoerde. Meanwhile, the vessel is back at Blohm & Voss shipyard at Hamburg to fix the faults. The type 125 frigates are not built for high intensity warfare. Our Navy has got what she's ordered...

I have read that the Federal German Navy has not been very pleased with this whole class. One of the faults is the list as seen. Also, worries that the ship cannot defend herself when needed or operate as part of a high intensity warfare group.
