In this photo you can see them much better:
http://coppermine.galacnet.com/riverthames/albums/userpics/10001/normal_CIMG4528.JPG I think Deverals yard (General Marine) has so of the most interesting vessels on the Thames hiding over there. Barges and all sorts. Best to get over there quick before they vanish like all the others |

Immen,
yes... that will be the one, the gross tonnage and year of build tie in with the sisters, of which there are various photos on this site by Karbine, Phil, Ken and myself taken over the years. And Ken (Smith) has also posted a wonderful picture of the older and larger 'Yantlet' which used to make up part of the fleet. I've not seen the ex-Broadness as MCL II as she is on a rather inaccesible part of the Thames. How you can come up with this info Immen amazes me! But fair play to you 8-) Thanks! John J. |

Hi Karbine,
I reckon she must be the former 'BROADNESS'. The PLA had four of these salvage ships, Broadness, Crossness, Hookness and Stoneness. Crossness and Hookness are still working on the Thames and the Stoneness has moved to Cornwall. Her hull is in the old PLA colour of green for these vessels, the others having now been painted blue. She appears to have had her crane and other equipment removed too. Regards John J. |
