I served on Hms St david (rnr)from 1971 - 1976.Based in east dock Cardiff, now the millenium centre.I was ex Rn Pocel, and had some smashing times on the old ship. The highlight for me was the trip to Gibralta,we sailed her out, spent two weeks with mod boffins, then flew homewhen new crew flew out. Some people i knew,D davies electrician.Lt yeomans skipper.

I was a crew member on hms st david as a member of the royal navy reserve during1963/4 minesweeping exercises and a visit to emden (germany) up the river ems where we tied up in the middle of town in stone throwing distance from the nearest boozer its good to see the ship as it was then before the bridge was covered, it was a bit chilly at times and wet, wish I had some photos to share with you. gjd

H.M.S. CRICHTON (M-1124) later became ST.DAVID.

Rare color view dating back many years. Always a pleasure to see one of your surprises popping up here.

Don,

Superb clear photo.

The minesweeper is HMS Crichton, built by J.S. Doig, Grimsby and commissioned 23 April 1954. She was broken up in 1987.
