Hello. It seems Rio Usumacinta IMO 8906157 was renamed VB Cimarron on 1 Feb 2018, working in Colon.

@ Davidships,, ships often showing in AIS Balboa or Crsitobal as destination when actually they are in transit to other ports after the transit.. That could be the case here,,As I do not know any place in Balboa which recycles ships. There is repair yard right at the Maersk Container Terminals, but now idea what they doing nowadays.

Just completing transit, with Balboa as destination. Then what, I wonder?

The one beside LUPO in your pic is one of Meyer Group's local fleet.

Just noticed that, although she is not reported turning up anywhere else, VB CALIFORNIA apparently stopped AIS transmissions at Montevideo on 28/12/2017, after being there since June 2015.

My hunch would be that these two are being moved to new deployment by Boluda.

VB California,, hmmm. There is a tug beside the tug LUPO on inner anchorage which I can,t make out. Well, it,s Panama always things coming,,most passing through and some stay and often the once which stay are headed for anchorage and then......

Could be that both going out of buisiness and one helps the other :-)

We'll have to see what VB GLORIOSO does - she towed the other down from Coatzacoalcos. Thought perhaps spares for RIO USUMACINTA's sister VB CALIFORNIA which used to work at Cristobal, but she is based in Montevideo now.

@ Baldizzone Pietro,, thanks infos, that seems to be the one. Do you know to where she is sold or where she might be going for rcycling. A Canal transit is not cheap,,somehow make not sense do that for that

Hello.
There is a tug Rio Usumacinta, IMO 8906157, which according to DNV on Equasis is sold for recycling. The photos of the tug on the site seem to match.

Pietro
