Description:

Train ferry; 2,996 grt; 1156 dwt; 800 passengers.
Operator: British Railways Board
Built: 1934 by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Low Walker, Newcastle. Yard no 1450.
Machinery: twin screws with 4 x Parsons steam Turbines of 5,000 shp (total). Speed: 15 knots.
Built for Southern Railway, London.
1936- in service Dover-Dunkerque.
1939-requisitioned by Royal Navy at Dover, renamed HMS SHEPPERTON, converted for mine-laying.
1940-used as troop transport between Stranraer and Larne.
1945-returned to civilian owners, service and original name.
1948-registered to British Transport Commission, Southern Region
1972-to breakers at Bilbao, Spain.
