The East German BERNHARD BASTLEIN, built at Warnemunde in 1965, was photographed alongside Avonmouth’s north pier on arrival on 11th March 1968 with cargo loaded at Kakinada and Bombay. The voyage had started at the Bangladesh jute port of Chalna on 20th January, completing at Rostock on 31st March, with calls at Leixoes (Portugal), Avonmouth, London, Antwerp and Bremen.

BERNHARD BASTLEIN finally arrived at Xingang (Tianjin new port) in October 1986 for breaking.
