Curonian Lagoon.1936-37.Smiltynė (in deutsch Sandkrug) The ferry was built in Memel(Klaipeda) in 1933 at Lindenau Werft (shipyard)/BRT 182 t., can carry up to 1000 passengers and several cars from the city through the Curonian Lagoon to the Curonian Spit.From March 1939 is named SANDGRUG..
In August 1944 included with the Kriegsmarine and transports cargo and troops of the Wehrmacht..In January 1945
transported military equipment and troops from Pillau(now "Baltiysk" Russian: Балтийск) across Frisches Haff (russisch Калининградский залив(strait)) to Frische Nehrung(The Vistula Spit). In April 25, 1945 , was sunk by an attack Soviet Air Forces near the peninsula Hel(German: Halbinsel Hela or Putziger Nehrung) the Bay of Puck
