Aida's latest cruise vessel, the Japanese-built AIDAPERLA, arrives at Hamburg for the first time in March 2018. For the next 33 weeks, the ship will perform northern Europe cruises out of Hamburg. Arriving during a severe storm, the ship exceptionally had to take tugs to swing to her berth at Hamburg Steinwerder.

Thanks! Luckily for the photographers at Hamburg, but much to the dismay of passengers whose cruise was shortened, the late arrival of the ship also delayed AIDAPERLA's departure from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon. This resulted in a rare afternoon sailing from Steinwerder. See here: https://tinyurl.com/y72jtlzn Normally at this time of the year, the vessels arrive and depart Hamburg in the dark.

Nice clear sharp shot Jan as all of your shots, But who designs these ugly pointy end shoe box's with a block of flats perched on top.

Thank you Andrew! You guy in Southampton had the ship first though :-) In case of today's maiden arrival, the storm-induced delay was actually pretty helpful for us in Hamburg. Usually, the AIDA ship arrive very early in the morning and they do not leave until 6 or 7 pm. So at this time of the year it would be impossible to take a shot upon arrival. Thus, quite a lot of photographers at Finkenwerder today in the freezing cold!!!
