Description:

Ole Lauritzen (Olau-Line, formerly Olav-Line) of Copenhagen's 1962 Helsingborg built OLAU EGE is seen passing Portishead, inbound for Avonmouth, on 25th March 1968, fifty years ago today. Launched as OLAU EGE she was delivered as BENEFACTOR for a long term charter to Harrison Line of Liverpool and, although reverting to her original name in 1967, continued the charter, presumably on a short term basis. Later in 1968 she was sold to VEB Deutsche Seereederei of Rostock, East Germany, to trade as SCHWARZA until 1984 when she was "sold East" and renamed LIHENG. She finally arrived at Kaohsiung on 13.7.87 for breaking.
