Description:

OBUASI was laid up in Sandon Dock, Liverpool, when photographed on 30th March 1978 (memorable as the day before my wedding, forty years ago tomorrow).

Built at Dundee in 1959 as MACHAON for Ocean Steamship Company Limited (Blue Funnel Line), she had been transferred to the Dutch flag in 1970 and from 1974 was operated on Elder Dempster services to West Africa.

In 1977 she was formally transferred to Elder Dempster B.V. and renamed OBUASI before being laid up at Liverpool in February 1978 pending sale to Greek owners, meanwhile reverting to the British flag and ownership of Elder Dempster Lines Limited.

Initially sold to Thenamaris to trade as ELSEA she was resold to Tartan Shipping Limited (Med Transport & Trading) and sailed on 23rd June 1978 as MED ENDEAVOR. She finally arrived at Kaohsiung on 12th February 1979 for breaking.
