Beam certainly too great, and she left Maasvlakte with 8.5m draught. Not surprising then that she is currently rounding the north of Denmark for St Petersburg.

Ref rd77 comment...Assuming the above Tech data correct and I read Canal specs correctly subject vessel a bit too big to transit Canal.
(Max length 235.5m Max width 32.5m. Draught up to 7m)

The hull form would be designed with hydrodynamic efficiency in mind - not aesthetics.

It's the thing, Hannes, that her forward part is just an eyesore to me, looks too blunt - and otherwise I'd be the last one to talk about the ugliness of modern container vessels, I simply accept them as they are...

Maersk's new Baltic feeder design, if I remember correctly. About 3,600 TEU! I remember that back in 2006/'07 I was planning Baltic feeders of no more than 1,000-1,500 TEU. Times have changed. I guess this thing is too big for the Kiel Canal?
