Description:

Docking at Commonwealth Pier opposite the fishing pier (T wharf) with assist of Boston Towboat tugs. The tragedy of this slide was it was Ektachrome and did not age well. In trying to restore it I see lots of detail lost.
Scan from Ektachrome slide, color corrected, photographer unknown (possibly my dad, Earle G. Boyd).

This ship is the Greek liner New York. Built in 1922 as the Tuscania for Anchor Line. 1939: Nea Hellas (Greek Line) 1955: New York (same owners. There is a modern postacard, published by CT Publishing (serial number 017) which depicts this ship on arrival at Boston in 1956.
Best wishes,
Schepekees
