Nothing new under the sun,in fact in 1946 ,just after the war's end two Royal navy vessels were mined in the Med near Corfu. the ships both destroyers were HMS SUAMAREZ and HMS VOLAGE and their undamaged parts where joined up into a virtually complete vessel. I don't remember the name of this jigsaw vessel, but she was nicknamed HMS SAUSAGE, a play on their respective names.

The aft of the ship was pretty much damage free, so constructing a new forebody was probably the most economical solution. And for a real Lazarus case, check the container ship CV Sea Witch, which was completely gutted and re-emerged after ten years as a chemical/product tanker.

Here we have a perfect example of the "Lazarus effect" (and I had no idea that there was a movie by the same name, darn you Holywood!), of the ship brought back from the dead. Just see her dismembered corpse here:
