Good morning Jens and many thanks for your compliment ! To those interested how she looked in her early years, please have a look at some great photos of her on binnenvaart.eu and debinnenvaart.nl, impressive ! Just search with her ENI 02318361. She was sunk in 1944 on the River Rhine but fortunately this was not her end. The conversion to a dry cargo vessel in 1960 certainly took her splendour and uniqueness away, but her days as a paddlewheel steam tug were over anyway with the post-war motorization of the barges.

Jens, your picture of POLLUX shows her very nicely on the River Elbe, long may these veterans continue !

Best wishes to Hamburg, cheers Hans

Excellent photo Hans! A paddlewheel steam tug... that must have been a most interesting sight.

Today I caught an oldie exactly her age, Pollux, also built in 1926 and also converted in 1960 (though from barge to motor vessel).

Best wishes from Hamburg
Jens

Hello Volker, thanks for your comment and yes, she has really undergone quite a metamorphosis and I'm also wondering which parts could be original.... I'll try to ask the skipper when I see this oldtimer next time.

Have a nice evening and enjoy the beautiful weather at Büdelsdorf, cheers Hans
