Octopus is currently the world's second largest private superyacht (the largest, Rising Sun, is owned by Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle. Octopus is measured at 414 feet (126.18 meters) and was delivered in 2003 to its owner, Paul G. Allen. Octopus sports two helicopters on the top deck, and a sixty-three foot tender docked in the transom (one of seven aboard) as well as an eight-person submarine. Side hatches at the water line form a dock for jet skis.

It was designed by Espen Øino Naval Architects and built by the German shipbuilder Lürssen. Its hull is made of steel.
