I.M.Skaugen of Oslo’s 1960 Kiel built tanker SKAUTOPP is seen passing Gravesend, inbound for London on 29th July 1968 on a voyage from Mena Ahmadi.

Later: 1968 SILUNA - 71 IDAN
She caught fire on 20.8.78 during a ballast voyage from Houston to Aruba and was broken up at Kaohsiung, arriving on 13.3.79.

She would have been coming in for tank cleaning or repairs after discharging at IoG. There are/were no crude oil terminals upriver of the photo location.

Thankyou Gentlemen. SKAUTOPP had sailed from Mena Ahmadi on 22nd June 1968 bound for the Isle of Grain. She subsequently sailed from London on 1st August back to the Persian Gulf. Perhaps she had part cargo for a Thames river jetty?

Did she bring any oil from Mena Ahmadi? She looks very light in the photo.

Thought I had posted her, I will have to dig the photo out.
