Description:

Karl Gross of Brake’s REGINE, seen eastbound off the north west German coast on 23rd June 1968, had been built at Emden for Atlas-Levante Linie and launched in March 1941 as ATLAS but was sunk by the RAF during a bombing raid whilst incomplete and taken as prize in May 1945. Raised, she was completed in 1948 as Empire Glencoe.

It is understood that H.P. Lenaghan of Belfast had intended in 1952 to buy the ship and rename her BANTRY BAY but the purchase was never completed.

In 1955 she was sold to Karl Gross and renamed REGINE. She had then operated between 1956 and 1959 as REGINE OHLROGGE.

REGINE finally arrived at Santander on 11 May 1976 for breaking
