Description:
Vessel took part in the Soviet 1987-88 Antarctic Expedition so ship is probably returning to Russia. Ice-strengthened and diesel-electric propulsion. Deck cargo of Mil-4 Hound helicopters and damaged IL-14 Airliner CCCP-41834 - see discussion and photos of accident at http://www.polarpost.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2354. Vessel built 1970 Kherson - type 550, Yard number 1401. Scrapped China 1995.
