Description:
This steam yacht "STJERNEN" (meaning the "STAR") was built in 1899 at yard Akers. Mek. Verksted Ltd. in Oslo, Norway for King Oscar II, at that time King of Sweden - Norway. In 1905, when Norway separated from Sweden, the new King Haakon V, married to Queen Maud, used the yacht for several years. Later she came in private use, but then rescued and restored by enthusiasts. Normally she is docked at the Royal Naval Museum in Horten, Norway. Dim 16,764 x 3,848 meters. Compound steam engine, 80 HP gives speed of 9 - 10 knots. She is a very rare and a beautiful sight. Her Wheelhouse is very open and not very sophisticated, but is functionabel.
