The Algol class ships are some of the fastest cargo ships in the world (capable of sustained speeds over 30 knots) and are large enough to carry significant amounts of the heaviest military equipment (including M1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks).
She is maintained by MARAD in 96 hour readiness and when activated she gains the prefix USNS as an US Military Sealift Command operated ship.
