Description:

Polish Steamship Company’s 1961 Gdansk built ROKITA was photographed transiting the Kiel Canal eastbound on 26th June 1968.

Later: 1973 ROBITA - SAID - 78 BLUE STAR - 85 BIJAH (having been converted to a livestock carrier)

She foundered whilst laid up at Port Sudan 24.12.88

Northern Shipyard from Gdansk delivered these two livestock carriers, named after devils (perhaps because of anticipated characteristic smell :)
For ten years Polish Steamship Co. used them to transport mostly horses, but cargo lists showed also the cattle, sheep, pigs and... turtles!
Later they had no employment and, after short term charter, they were sold to Dignity Maritime Co. (Cyprus).
