Description:

The 1958 Foxhol (Holland) built coaster LE TRIEUX, owned by Société Bretonne de Cabotage of Paimpol, in the Côtes-d'Armor departement of Brittany in north western France, is seen sailing from Swansea on 23 August 1968 bound for Bayonne with 820 tonnes of coal. Several Bristol Channel coastal tankers are waiting outside to enter the lock. These had included Peakdale H., still in her original form before lengthening, Keeldale H. and Shell Traveller. The Shell / BP vessels were soon withdrawn when Bowker & King took over the BP cargoes.

Scanned from a slide in my collection taken by the late John Wiltshire.

With grateful thanks to Yvan Letellier and Mike Nash (Sharpness Ships) for their help in providing information.
