US Navy Balao Class Submarine. Commissioned 1944. She won 4 battle stars for WWII and sank two tankers with a total of 3888 tons. Refitted to GUPPY standard in 1949 and 1950 she made operational tours to Scotland and the Med with the 6th Fleet. Primary post war duty was for training. Decommissioned in 1969, she has been on display at the Independence Seaport Museum since 1976.
