Originally ordered by Common Brothers for the Australia China Line service run in post-war years as a joint venture between Common Brothers and Jardine-Matheson, Common Brothers supplying the ships and Jardines the Far East expertise. This probably accounts for the tripod mast which Common Brothers favoured for many of their post-war ships. Prior to her delivery Commons decided to withdraw from the joint venture and the ship was delivered in 1951 to Jardine-Matheson's Indo-China S.N.Co. In 1969 she was sold to Jebshun Shipping, Hong Kong, and was to have been renamed Precious Diamond but suffered an explosion and fire while under repair, twelve lives being lost. On 24 December 1969 she arrived in tow at Keelung to be broken up.
