Description:
Photograph taken On 26 February 1937: The Blue Star liner is alongside at Ocean Steamers Wharf, Port Adelaide loading cargo for Britain. No. 4&5 hatches are still working; insulated rail vans on the wharf would have brought chilled meat to the ship.
She called at this wharf four more times prior to World War II, the last being on 19 October 1939 when she again loaded foodstuffs and wool for Britain. On the night of 3rd/4th May 1941 she was damaged by German Luftwaffe bombs while berthed at Liverpool Docks.[the infamous "Liverpool Blitz]
Completed by Harland & Wolf Ltd at Belfast. Delivered on 17 April 1935, served until 1964.
