The C1-M wartime standard ship "Timber Three" is loading bagged wheat at Wallaroo north of Adelaide. Many ports in South-East Asia in the 1960s did not have bulk grain handling facilities - hence a profitable re-bagging industry flourished at Wallaroo for a decade or so.

There was a sequence of messages on the question of the validity of "LR/IMO No: 5373335". I have moved them all, in full, from here to a new Forum thread in order to widen and contine the discussion:,16270.0.html

This was one of 229 examples of the C1-M class cargo ships. They were small, diesel-engined, coastal cargo ships built for the U.S. Maritime Commission during WW-II. They were generally known among seamen as "Knot Ships" because most were originally named after various knots and splices. This particular example was originally named "Mesh Knot". Many of these ships lasted well into the 1970s.
