Description:

The Flagship of the Esso Fleet, crude oil tanker "Esso London" is standing 16kms off Port Stanvac in South Australia unable to berth because there were suspected typhoid sufferers among the crew. Later established the entire crew had a virulent strain of Asian 'Flu, picked up in Bahrain.

What an interesting story. She was quite large for a mid-ship tanker, close to 100K tdw.
It seems her stbd aft lifeboat was swung out for some reason? Drill perhaps...who knows.
Is that a traverse crane aft on the aft accommodation? Painted black on top half...
