Description:

The 1953 Lübeck built SANTA KATERINA is seen passing Gravesend, inbound for London from Antwerp fifty years ago today, on 7th August 1968. She, along with the better known, ill fated, CAPETAN LEONIDAS (ex FANA built 1937) was managed by Marine Star Shipping Agency Inc. of New York on behalf of S.L.Coutsodontis who was also based at New York.

EX- CAIRO-67 (Bock, Godeffroy & Co.,Hamburg)

1969: transferred to Seamaster Shipping Inc. (John Tsavaris & S.L.Coutsodontis), New York
1978: acquired by Bradford Shipping Inc (J.Apostolakis & C.Miral), New York
1982: transferred to Sun Seaway Enterprises Inc., New York

She sailed from Houston on 1st August 1982 for La Guaira, Venezuela, and is believed to have been laid up until reactivated in 1986 as GALINI under the Honduras flag, owned by Atlantis Cia. Nav S.A. of Athens

She then sailed from Houston on 30th October 1986 and arrived at Balboa on 27th February 1987 from Callao. She finally arrived at Kaohsiung on 10th June 1987 for breaking.
